Finding Peace After the Loss of My Son

Dear Fr. Marco and your team, I wrote to you last May asking you to carry a prayer for my son. He took his own life in 2018, and I have carried a weight of grief and guilt that I thought would crush me. I asked you to carry a card for him, and for me, that we might both find peace. I received the photograph of the card in St. Peter's. I keep it on my nightstand. I cannot say the weight is gone, but something has shifted. In the months since, I have found I can speak of him without being overwhelmed. I went to his grave last week and, for the first time, I felt a sense of his presence rather than just the emptiness. I am beginning to sleep through the night. I know this is a long road, but I feel I have been given a place to rest along it. Thank you for carrying my prayer into that holy place.
