My Husband Walking Again After Spinal Surgery

Dear Fr. Marco and your team,

Last month I sent you a holy card with a prayer for my husband, Robert. He was facing a very difficult spinal surgery and we were both afraid. The doctors told us recovery would be long and uncertain. I asked your service to carry our prayer for his healing and the surgeon's hands.

I received the photograph of our card in St. Peter's. It gave me such peace to see it there. I placed it on his bedside table in the hospital.

The surgery went as well as could be hoped. But what has happened since is what I write to tell you. His recovery has moved forward in ways the physical therapist calls remarkable. Last week, with the walker, he made it to the mailbox. This morning, he walked to the kitchen table on his own. His strength returns a little more each day. The fear is gone.

I do not know why some prayers are answered in such a visible way. I only know we asked, and you carried it, and here we are. He is not the same man he was before the pain, but he is becoming new. Thank you for taking our prayer to that holy place.
