How do I know if it's God's guidance or just my own thoughts? God's guidance aligns with his character and his word. It is helpful to seek counsel from wise, faithful people and to test your sense of direction over time in prayer.

What if I make the wrong choice after praying for guidance? God's sovereignty is greater than our mistakes. He can redeem missteps and work through them for good. Our responsibility is to seek him with a sincere heart; his responsibility is to guide and uphold us. His mercy covers our uncertainties.

Why does God's guidance sometimes feel so slow? Waiting is part of the guidance. It can be a time of preparing our hearts, building our trust, and clearing away our own agendas. The timing itself is a form of direction, teaching us to depend on him, not just on an outcome.

Can I pray for a specific sign? You can ask, but be careful not to test God or demand conditions. It is wiser to pray for a sensitive and obedient heart to recognize the ways he is already speaking—through scripture, circumstances, wise counsel, and the inner peace of the Spirit.

How do I pray when I feel too overwhelmed to even know what to ask for? Start with that feeling. A simple prayer like, "God, I am overwhelmed. I don't know the way. Please guide me," is enough. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groans too deep for words when we cannot form our own.
